What do you have a question about?
Treadmills
Extending lifespan
- When starting the treadmill, stand on the side rails before the belt starts moving. Only step onto the running deck once the belt is in motion. This puts as little strain on the motor as possible.
- After use, switch the treadmill off with the on/off switch. Only use the emergency stop in an emergency; this protects the circuit board.
- Clean the treadmill after each use with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap. Sweat that isn't removed in time can cause rust.
- Lubricate the deck regularly with Vaseline or silicone oil, roughly every two months depending on use. A dry deck runs less smoothly and makes more noise.
- Don't place the treadmill in a humid area, such as a shed or next to the washing machine.
- Check the bolts every six months and tighten them if necessary.
- Once a year, unscrew the motor cover (with the power switched off) and remove any dust around the motor, including the ventilation area.
Assembly
I'm missing parts
Carefully check the styrofoam and the machine itself. Some parts (bolts, screws and the like) may already be attached to the machine.
I get an error message after assembly
Check that all cables are properly connected. The aluminium legs are delicate and must stay straight. If you get an error message after assembly, carefully straighten the aluminium legs; this often solves the problem.
How do I tighten the Allen bolts properly?
Treadmills are assembled with Allen bolts. Make sure the Allen key is fully inserted into the bolt before applying force. This prevents stripping the bolt head.
How tight should the belt be?
The belt should have 5–7 cm of slack. Test this by standing on the foot rails and lifting the belt on both sides. The manual explains how to adjust the belt tension. Your supplier may also have an instruction video.
How do I fit the gas spring?
Fit the folding lock/gas spring with two people: one holds the treadmill, the other installs the lock.
Troubleshooting
The incline isn't working
The manual explains step by step how to calibrate the treadmill. No longer have the manual? Request a new one from your supplier.
Heart rate measurement isn't working
Possible causes:
- The sensor cables aren't properly connected or came loose during use.
- The sensors are wet, dirty or greasy. Clean them regularly.
- Calluses on your hands can interfere with the reading. In that case, use a chest strap.
The belt runs off-centre
Adjust the tension roller. If the belt drifts to the left, tighten the left side; if it drifts to the right, tighten the right side. Turning clockwise tightens. Your supplier may have an instruction video.
I hear a thumping sound
A slight thumping sound is normal. The belt is fused together in the middle and this seam can make the sound while you run.
The treadmill jerks while running
The belt runs over a smooth plate that carries your weight. With every step, the belt is pressed onto this plate. The plate must stay smooth to prevent friction or jamming, so lubricate the deck regularly.
The treadmill won't turn on
Every treadmill has a Safety Key that must be in place on the console. The treadmill won't work without it. Check the manual for where the key goes.
Error code E1
Solution 1: under the motor cover, near the roller, is a speed sensor. If it's too far from the magnet, the speed can't be read and E1 appears. Move the sensor closer to the magnet.
Solution 2: if that doesn't work, the cable may have come loose due to vibrations. Reconnect the cable to both the sensor and the circuit board.
Error code E3
E3 indicates a faulty circuit board. Replace the entire board; it's usually fastened with two screws. Take a photo of the board before unplugging any cables. Cables may be glued in place: gently loosen them with a small screwdriver. Then connect the new board according to the photo.
Error code E7
The Safety Key isn't in place on the treadmill. Attach the key to the display to continue.
Emergency stop
How do I secure the treadmill, for example from small children?
Remove the Safety Key after use. Always switch off the main power before removing the key.
Exercise bikes
Extending lifespan
- Check the bolts every six months and tighten them if necessary.
- Clean the exercise bike after each use with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap. Sweat that isn't removed in time can cause rust.
- Don't place the exercise bike in a humid room, such as a shed or a laundry room.
Assembly
I'm missing parts
Carefully check the styrofoam and the machine itself. Some parts (bolts, screws and the like) may already be attached to or inside the machine.
How do I fit the pedals?
Tighten the left pedal anticlockwise and the right pedal clockwise. If you tighten the left pedal clockwise, you may damage the thread and the pedal can no longer be used.
I get an error message after assembly
Check that all cables are properly connected. The aluminium legs are delicate and must stay straight. If you get an error message after assembly, carefully straighten the aluminium legs; this often solves the problem.
Where are the heart rate cables?
The heart rate cables run inside the handlebar and are often partly hidden. Pull them out as far as possible before assembly; this takes very little force.
Where do the transport wheels go?
Fit the transport wheels to the front of the machine.
How do I tighten the Allen bolts properly?
Many exercise bikes are assembled with Allen bolts. Make sure the Allen key is fully inserted into the bolt before applying force. This prevents stripping the bolt head.
Error code E1
Inside the housing, near the flywheel, is a sensor that measures speed, just like a regular bike computer. A magnet is attached to the spoke with the sensor close by. If the sensor is too far from the magnet, the speed can't be read and the display shows E1. Locate the sensor in the housing and slide it towards the magnet until it almost touches.
Troubleshooting
My exercise bike squeaks
First, lubricate all moving parts with silicone spray. A squeak can also occur if a screw is too tight or too loose and causes friction. Find out where the sound is coming from and adjust that screw slightly. Screws should be tight enough that you can still loosen them by hand.
There's no resistance
First, listen for the motor. When you increase or decrease the resistance, you should hear a short sound.
- If you hear the motor, the electronics are working and the V-belt has probably slipped off. Open the housing and put the V-belt back.
- If you don't hear the motor, the motor or display may be faulty. First check that the cable running through the tube is still properly connected. If it is, replace the display. If that doesn't solve it, replace the motor.
I hear a clicking noise while pedalling
This is probably caused by one of the pedals. Remove the pedals and refit them. Note: tighten the left pedal anticlockwise and the right pedal clockwise. Tighten them firmly. If the noise persists, contact your supplier.
The heart rate display isn't working
Possible causes:
- The sensor cables to the display aren't properly connected or have come loose.
- The sensors are wet, dirty or greasy. Clean them regularly.
- Calluses on your hands can interfere with the reading. In that case, use a chest strap.
The HTR 2.1 console freezes
The console needs a firmware update. Watch the instruction video.
Adapter
Where do I plug in the adapter?
Connect the adapter to the back of the exercise bike, right at the bottom. Don't plug it into a random port on the display.
Can I use a different adapter?
Only use the adapter supplied with the machine. An adapter with a different voltage or amperage can cause damage.
Cross trainers
Extending lifespan
- The upright post is secured with Allen bolts. Always make sure they are properly tightened; if they come loose, the cross trainer may start to creak.
- Grease all moving parts on the base every six months with acid-free Vaseline or silicone oil.
- Clean the cross trainer after each use with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap. Sweat that isn't removed in time can cause rust.
- Does your cross trainer have a rail with wheels running over it? Then grease the rail and wheels every month with acid-free Vaseline or silicone oil.
- Don't place the cross trainer in a humid room, such as a shed or a room with a washing machine.
- Does the machine have a main power switch (on/off)? Always switch it off after use.

If the sensor is too far from the magnet, the speed can't be read and the display shows E1. Locate the sensor in the housing and move it slightly closer to the magnet until it almost touches.
Troubleshooting
My indoor cycle squeaks
Resistance is controlled by one or two brake pads that press against the flywheel. If they aren't well lubricated, they can squeak as they rub against the wheel. Spray the brake pads with silicone spray to solve this.
There's no resistance
Does your indoor cycle have a motor? First, listen for it turning. When you increase or decrease the resistance, you should hear a short sound.
- If you hear the motor, the electronics are working and the V-belt (similar to a bicycle chain) has probably slipped off. Open the housing and put the belt/chain back.
The display has stopped working
There's a battery on the back of the display. If the display stops working, replacing the battery often solves the problem.
My indoor cycle slips
If an indoor cycle with a V-belt slips, the belt isn't tight enough. You can tighten the belt in two ways:
- using the tensioner near the chain guard;
- if there's no tensioner: by pushing the flywheel forward, which increases the belt tension.
Home gyms
Extending lifespan
- Check the bolts every six months and tighten them if necessary.
- Clean the home gym after each use with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap. Sweat that isn't removed in time can cause rust.
- Don't place the home gym in a humid room, such as a shed or a room with a washing machine.
- Does the machine feel a bit stiff during use? Lightly lubricate the steel cables with acid-free Vaseline or silicone oil.
Assembly
I'm missing parts
Carefully check the styrofoam and the machine itself. Some parts (bolts, screws and the like) may already be attached to or inside the machine.
How do I tighten the Allen bolts properly?
Many home gyms are assembled with Allen bolts. Make sure the Allen key is fully inserted into the bolt before applying force. This prevents stripping the bolt head.
How do I fit the cables?
When fitting the cables from the weight stack to the pulley, make sure each cable runs properly over the pulley wheel. This applies to all cables. Fully unroll each cable before fitting it and straighten any curled cable first.
